10 years ago I completed the recording of 11 songs that would make up the first album under the Gaunt Story moniker, 'This Gaunt Story'. The album was in part, re-recordings of older songs from a previous project that I wanted to improve upon along with a batch of newer material I felt worked well alongside them.

I wanted the recordings to feel more like a band and less like a solo project so I roped in the skills of Karl Francis, Tom Cross, Jay Stansfield, Liam Martin, Maria Carlisle and James Rush to perform on the tracks. I had no budget, barely any studio equipment and at that stage, not much experience putting together anything beyond home demos.

The album was recorded in an attic above a shop, in bedrooms and living rooms across Burnley & Pendle. Even with the hiss, pops and imperfections throughout (what even is a click track?), I can still listen back after a decade and be very proud of what was accomplished. I'm extremely grateful to everyone that was involved in its creation and to everyone that has bought, borrowed, streamed or shared the songs over the years.

To celebrate the years since 'This Gaunt Story', a newly remastered 10th-anniversary edition of the album has been released alongside a newly mixed acoustic version of the entire album, previously unheard demo recordings and a BBC live radio session from 27.08.09.

For those that still remember the songs and for anyone that enjoyed listening, I hope you'll take the time to revisit them again.
